Advisors
Below is a list of advisors who made this project possible.

Alexia N. C. Levite --CAD Drawings and Materials Selection
ANCL Architects helped us with the world of architecture and CAD drawings. We needed to convert our star design into a computer drawing which could be read by the water jet cutter. Alexia advised us on materials, and lead us through the proceedure of working with an archectural firm to go over requirements, design approvals and third party co-ordinations.
Amy Cody--Networking
Amy from the Marshal Heights Community Development Organization, believed in the project from the begining. She seemed to always fall into the wonderful roll of " project matchmaker". She is responsible for our main partnerships between Washington Parks and People and Project Blessing for Hurting Parents. She assisted us with publicity, location scouting and permiting.
Benham Mehrabkhani--Construction
Benham from Washington Parks to People, helped us immensly. He was the master of construction, wood sign installation, cement street repair, concrete patching, and deliveries.
Craig Duckworth --Granite
Craig Duckworth educated us about the world of granite, onyx, and marble. He showed us how to cut stone, lent us his water jet saw, and introduced us to many donors and project advisors who made many of the most technical aspects of the fabrication and installation possible.
David DeBear --Installation
David is a chemical engineer who started Custom Building Products (which is the main tile installation materials sold in Home Depot!). David helped us select installation materials, donated 2 tons worth of materials and helped us find experts for the installation.
Janet Hughes --Workshops
Janet was our main co-ordinator with Washington Parks to People. She took countless phonecalls and enabled the deliveries, workshops, meetings and logistics for the project.
John Gray --Installation
John helped us think through the installation for the project. His 25 plus years in the business and his company International Stone enalbed us to obtain a full donation of installation supplies.
  Jose Dominguez --Funding
Jose helped the project from the start. He walked us through the funding and proposal process for the DC Commission on Arts and Humanities. He also helped us tremendouly with the networking with the many NE arts organization for the project.
  JP Muller --Fabrication
The project hoped to make possible star inlays into the graite portion. These shapes were impossible using the water tub saw. JP and his company OEC Engineering donated shop cutting time and helped us design the stars for durablity and asthetic merit.
  Larry B. Quick--Workshops/Inspiration
Larry, of Life Peices to Masterpeices, acted as an advsor to us about the neighborhood. He taugh us about art education and explained how he had found a new way to make a profound impact. His vision is an inspiration for the project.
  Lou Williams --Permitting
Lou, with the District Department of Transportation helped us through the permitting process. He was always enthusastic to help us find our way with an unusual project through the sea of architechts around us!
  Matt--CAD Drawing
Matt with Alexis Levine Archectural firm, donated his time and expertise to rendering our photoshop star designs into CAD drawings for the water jet cutter. I think he mentioned that he had drawn the star what seemed like 75 times!
  Paul Wilson --Community
Paul helped us orient ourselves to the neighborhood. He helped us with the understanding of what organizations and community groups would need to approve and co-ordinate the project.
Reginald Pointer--Ceramics
Reginald Pointer of the Howard University Ceramics Department devoted countless hours to the project. He showed us how to make clay molds, and how to select a clay body which would withstand the freezing and thawing conditions of a Washington DC winter. He helped us do many tests and advised us on everything from design decisions to ceramics suppliers.
Rebecca Stamps --Community
Rebecca supported the project early on. The project was a match made in heaven, because we needed a workshop space and she needed art classes. The Project Blessings for Hurting Parents Crisis Center at Lincoln Heights is a testiment to the deepest successes and acomplishments we can hope to achieve. She helped us by hosting and advising the first 16 week workshop andshe connected us to the Lincoln Heights Community.
  Sherry Schwechten --Funding and Permiting
Sherry directed us through the process and appiclation for Washington DC DOT permitting. She also walked us through the grant writing processes and help co-ordinate the capital grant which was given to us by the DC Commission on Arts and Humanities.
Stephanie --Granite Design
Stephanie of Arc Stone II designed the colors and design aspects of the spectacular granite run of the mosaic. Her invaluable knowledge and aesthetic understanding gave the design a classic, longlasting elegance!

Steve Coleman --Financing/Inspiration
Steve was an early believer in the project. He leads Washington Parks to People with incredible energy, vision and inovation. His organization has made an incredible investment in the neighborhood and maintains the Marvin Gaye Park with scores of volunteers. He helped us to identify funding sources, provided workshop space and supported the project with sustained enthusiam.
