Health Program and Research Assistant

Description: Washington Parks and People along with the National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA) are set to begin a research project in Ward 7 around the hypothesis that parks build communities.  The research assistant will support the Assistant Director for Health in Parks with a variety of duties including, but not limited to:

    • Finding and reviewing related literature, legislation and policies on parks, playgrounds, community environment and health
    • Assist with collection/organization of community survey data and park observations assist with production of toolkit and advocacy information surrounding parks, playgrounds, community environment and health
    • Develop new and support existing marketing strategies for health programs at The Riverside Center and MGP

    Qualifications:  Applicants should have experience, education and skills in one or more of the following areas, health, research methods, exercise science, sociology and are expected to have strong organizational, communication and writing skills.

    Recreational Program Assistant

    Washington Parks and People along with the National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA) are set to begin a research project in Ward 7 around the hypothesis that parks build communities. The research assistant will support the Assistant Director for Health in Parks with a variety of duties including, but not limited to:

    • leading and developing activities for Club Fridays (a weekly program for kids 6-12yrs focused on health, fitness and outdoor fun)
    • assist with planning, creating and developing health and expeditionary learning and marketing materials
    • assist in coaching Girls on the Run (Tuesdays/Thursdays 3:45-5:00pm)


    Qualifications: Applicants should have experience, conservation, ecology, education and skills in one or more of the following areas, health, research methods, exercise science, sociology and are expected to have strong organizational, communication and writing skills.
