Our ParkArts program presents a wide range of free community music and arts programs in the parks.  Recent programs in 2019 included an 80th birthday tribute to Marvin Gaye with the National Synmphony Orchestra and the vocalist Cecily; an Art All Night program in our Marvin Gaye Community Greening Center, a Civic Fest in Merdiain Hill/ Malcolm X Park, Heal & Release, Back to School Farm Night, SudorFest in our Columbia Heights Green, Opera outside in Meridian Hill/ Malcolm X Park, Jazz and Hip Hop in Marvin Gaye Park, harvest festivals, movie nights, and much, much more. In our upcoming 30th anniversary year in 2020, we will be presenting  a major ParkArts series along the Anacostia River and a series of programs paying tribute to the treasures of Meridian Hill/ Malcolm X Park.

Parks & People offers formal training and technical assistance to community partners, including those interested in urban agriculture. Meanwhile, our exciting ParkArts program offers residents of Wards 7 and 8 a performing arts pop-up program that brings together arts partners and the public for a free mobile outdoor interactive arts and cultural experience in underserved parks and green spaces.

Join us for Open Harvest every Saturday from 10-1 at both the Columbia Heights Green and the Marvin  Gaye Greening Center. These unique open farms are open to all to learn from and join in the farming and harvesting.  Write to info@washingtonparks.net for more information!
